Hi,
I am an E2 visa holder, through E2 for Executives type. So, I am not the business owner, but an employee in the business.
I am aware that I can only work for my employer in the US, since the business name is already printed on my visa and SSN card. I cannot do Uber, Lyft, or cannot work at McDonald's. That's fine.
My question is the following:
- I have participated in a medical study -- voluntarily
- In the end, the study pays volunteers with a prepaid debit card which is practically cash -- for $100
- They wanted me to provide my SSN in order for the university to release the funds
Would that be a violation of my E2 visa?
My thoughts are the following: Since I am not working and not getting paid for work, it should not be a violation. But I don't want to risk it. Any ideas?
Thank You
