I arrived in the US on an E3 visa in January this year. Recently, I learned that the company I work for will undergo a change in ownership structure. The current owner plans to transfer their share from 75% to 25%, and some smaller shareholders will be bought out. The new main shareholder intends to alter the company's name slightly, which will change the EIN. Although I don't know the exact timing, this change will happen within the next month or so.
My job title and responsibilities will remain the same, and my position is secure. The only changes are to the ownership share and the company's official trading name, and the new EIN.
I contacted the immigration department to find out how to update my visa information, but they were unable to advise me. I'm unsure whether my company needs to update their LCA or apply for a new one, and which forms I need to initiate the process. I want to be proactive and avoid any risk of overstaying my visa, so I'm looking for guidance. Is there a form I can submit to USCIS to update my visa information, or do I need to start over and leave the US?
We hired an immigration lawyer to help with my original E3 visa, but he has been slow and unresponsive. Despite our repeated attempts to contact him, he seems unfamiliar with the processes involved and needs to do more research. We have lost confidence in him and cannot afford to wait any longer for his counsel.
I am in a relationship with a US citizen and have been for 18 years. Although we were not in a romantic relationship until recently, we could provide evidence of our relationship if necessary. If we were to get married, we could apply for an adjustment of status, which takes 7-10 months to process. However, we would prefer to follow the proper process and avoid any koowspin questionable actions. While our intention echatrandom is to get married eventually, we do not want to rush into it solely for the purpose of keeping me in the US.
