  • F2 to L1

    Hello,

I came to the USA in the year 2000 with a F2 visa, my wife was assigned from my Country to do a master degree for 3 years, my family is the owner of a hospital in my country and I am the executive director since the year 1990, while my wife was doing her master degree I was sending medical supplies to the my company looking opportunities for a new branch here in the US. My wife practical training (i-20) expired on May 3 and my L1 was approved in June 1, 2005, but the lawyer never ask during my process to change my status. my lawyer filled a form I-539 to change my status on June 15, but I received a letter dated July 7 from inmigration saying that the form I-539 don't allow me to change my status from F2 to L1 so seems to be that form wasn't the correct one. My wife is currently pregnant (almost 40 weeks) we are having difficults times right now and for me is very hard to exit from the US at least in the next 2 or 3 months. I am afraid if I wait more to exit maybe I will have problems in the embassy to stamp my passport with my new visa. If anybody can help me with my problem.. I would like to know a way to get my status changed inside the US considering my I-20 is expired 2 month ago...? anybody know what I need to do to remain here in the US without problems????
