L1b to h1 transfer

Hi,

I am currently on L1B visa with I-94 valid till 15 SEP 2013. I found an employer who is planning to file a H1B petition. I understand H1B cap for this year is over and they might file it for next year.MY question is - If my H1 get approved than
Between 15th Sep2013 and 1st Oct 2013 - will i be able to work? What are the best options i have .

I have to avoid traveling to India if possible for the stamping.

To avoid out of status and illegal period either apply for L1 extension, or convert to B1/B2 or leave US and return on H1.
