Urgent: Re-Capture the time spent outside USA on L1-B visa

My L1B 5 year term is expiring on Jan-28-2013.

I have been travelling outside USA for my client requirements and vacation.

Total of these trips sums up to 5 months.

Here are my questions:

1. Is it true that I can claim the time I spent outside USA?
2. If yes, How?
