L2 EAD document submission

My wife completed her EAD application bio-metrics and received a letter from the Immigration dept to submit some additional documents before Feb 2013. We have a month long trip to make to India and will be back by Jan 2013. Would it be a good idea to submit the documents after we return or should we submit them now before leaving?
Would our presence in the country matter while the application is being processed?

It is always better to respond asap.

Whether your presence will matter or not is a tricky questions. Technically, your spouse must be maintaining L2 status when the application is adjudicated and there is no status outside of US. Also, she will have a new I-94 on returning anyway (different from the one attached with the application). Whether it will affect or not cannot be predicted. Most probably it will not affect.
