L1B Expired Last week, should i try for H1B 2013 cap with private consultants

I am working in US now and came by L1B-Blanket Visa.

My L1B visa expired last week and i have valid I94 upto 2015,should i try for H1B visa 2013 cap with private consultants ?

If yes, What all are the procedures i should follow to get the change of Visa status ?

If No, What are all the options i need to try to change my employer or job ?

I have plans of going back to India around October 2013 for personal Reasons.

Please provide me a detailed suggestion. Thanks in Advance.

-- If you want to return in L1 status at that time, you will need to get valid L1 Visa. If you have change of status to H1 filed in April, travel will complicate matters. I cannot elaborate all the different possibilities here.
