Can I travel/stay in US on L2 visa after my H1 is initiated but not stamped ?

Hi All, my first post and I require some direction...

My wife is on L1 visa (which expires on Mar 10). Till last week I was on L1 too, but my visa extension was rejected and I had to travel to India.
I am applying for L2 visa as her dependent but my employer wants to file H1 for me on April. Can I travel on L2 around March and stay in US till April 30, while my employer files H1 for me around Apr 01 ?

Till when is yours and your spouse's I-94 valid? You can convert and stay in US on L2 only till your wife's L1 I-94 is valid.
