Hello immihelp community. Hoping you can help me out with advice on a tough one.
I'm a Canadian citizen who will be getting my L1 status probably in late May of 2013. My wife is a Chinese citizen with a Canadian PR. She's currently working and wants to stay employed in Canada or the States with the least amount of disruption (will go stir crazy otherwise as an idle housewife).
I'm guessing she can't cross the boarder with me and get an L2 because she'll require a Visa which they don't hand out at the boarder (I would love to be wrong on this one). And if that's the case what's the quickest way I can get her onto an L2? I know I should be getting my I129 receipt at the time of crossing. Can I Fedex that back to her and have her go to a US consulate to get her Visa. Or worst case scenario does she have to wait till I get my I797 in the mail and then go to the US consulate to get her Visa (which could take months). And of course on top of all that she wouldn't have filed for EAD yet which in grand total might be 6 months before she's working again in the States.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
