Hi,
My name on my Indian passport is as below:
Given Name : YYYY YYYY
Surname : <blank>
When I applied for my L1 in since my surname was blank I applied as below:
Given Name : YYYY YYYY
Surname : LNU
When i got my visa, it was printed as below:
First Name : FNU
Last Name : YYYY YYYY.
I filled my I-94 as per my visa. And my SSN has Unknown as my First name since FNU is not recognized by SSN.
Now I want to extend my L1 and wanted to know if this will be an issue since my SSN and I-94 are as per my visa and not passport. I wanted to correct my name in passport(split name), but when i checked with the vfs, they told me that the rules have changed and since I am applying in US, my US address will be printed on my Indian passport(new passport after name split). I do not want to do that because when I go back to India, I might have to change my address in the passport and it will be my 3rd passport.
Can you please tell me if I do not split my name in the passport and file for my extension, will it put me in trouble?
Awaiting your reply,
Iris
