Travel to India when L1B is pending

Hello All,

I would like to know if it is possible to travel to India after responding to RFE for L1 B blanket visa extension. What will happen to the current L1 B petition which was pending in US after travelling to India. If extension is approved after the RFE is replied, Can the person go for visa stamping based on the approved extension.

In case of blanket petition that does not have an expiry date, one can apply for the Visa at any time. Extension only means extension of status (I-94), and in case the person leaves the US extension of status is meaningless.

If the petition has an expiry date and extension is filed to extend that, then leaving the US will cause extension of status part of the petition to be denied (petition approved without I-94). In that case the employee will have to wait until petition is approved to apply for Visa.
