  • REsignation on L1B

    Hello All,
I desperately need your suggestion here. I am working on L1B visa and i have few health issues. I wanted to quite my job right-away (obscond). dont want to serve notice period.
Is this possible or i need to face any issues from my employer.

    Thanks

Why you want to abscond if you have genuine health issues? No Company HR would understand it. On L1B the day you resign you are out of status and should no longer be in US. You cant transfer your L1 to another status too as you would be out of status. If you decide to leave US immediately or shortly after resigning it might still be ok from future visa and US entry perspective.

I would still suggest you talk to your employer and sort this out.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

Thanks for the quick response. If i apply for a new status (H4) right before i resign, will that be ok? To be honest, my spouse has health issues and we have a small baby too.
I am working in a different location from my spouse and baby. So they need my support.

appreciate any comments here on this.

Yes you should file L1 to H4 COS before your last working day. L1 to H4 can be filed online too.
