    Hi,

The requirenment for AAP can be triggered braodly due to 2 reasons:

    1. Consulate Based - In this case the consulate/USCIS is not very sure about your case of a visa and may ask for submission of additional documents, may verify your work ex, education etc.

    2. Washington Based - In this case agengies other than USCIS (Homeland Security etc.) may have some interest in you or someone who may have similar names etc.

Based on my experiece interacting with various people and having read verious posts on internet forums, the Washington based Additional Administrative processing (AAP) doesn't differentiate between type of Visa sought. If they haven't asked for any documents, it may probably be Name-Check or something of that sort and hence may not be expedited.

Having said that, it is observed that the AAP timelines for clearance is getting reduced and more-or-less stands at around 6-8 weeks at the moment. Look at my earlier posts in this to get an idea.

    All the Best.

    Regards,
    snbtcca

            Hi,

Till yesterday my case was being shown as pending processing. I attended the visa interview on 9th May 2013.

I have sent a mail for return of my passport as I need to travel to SE Asia for some work. I dont know how many days they would take to return the passport.

            Regards,
            Anupam

              Passport Withdrawal Request

You can send a written request via nearest VFS to Consulate. They will return your passport(s) in a week's time. I got mine the same way. Thanks!

                  221g pink

                  Hi,
                  Just a brief background

                  OFC: 1st May 2013
                  VI : 2nd May 2013
                  Consulate: chennai
Fresh H1 (already have B1 stamped and travelled to US in past)
                  Common Muslim name: No
I applied with my wife and 2 kids. Was handed 221g pink with no documents asked. After the interview the visa officer said the visa has been approved and I would get my passport back in 2 weeks. However the lady in the counter no 31 mentioned that it would take 4-8 weeks. i have broken both the deadlines. It's been already 10 weeks and there has been no update in my case.
I am not sure what is taking so much of time. 10 weeks is a long time. My employers are continuously following up.
Is anyone in the same situation as me? What are the chances of getting the visa?

                    Hi,

I am non-muslim working with top International IT companies with clean records, still have been waiting for the administrative processing since 9th May. Its almost 10 weeks now and I have been told by the Visa officer that you qualify for the visa but need additional administrative processing. They retained my passport and did not asked for any additional documentation. Mine was L1A Blanket visa.

I am hoping that they would complete the processing with 12 weeks cause that was the timeframe mentioned in the slip.

                    Rgds.

                          Visa issued!

Finally my visa got issued today. It was indeed a long wait but glad that I am through this mess.
A brief recap of my case:

I applied for fresh H1B in Chennai consulate and was handed over pink slip with no document asked.
                          OFC: 1st may 2013
                          VI: 2nd May 2013
For the first time the case update date changed to 16th August 2013 (Friday) and finally the status changed to 'issued' on 19th August 2013 (Monday).

Wishing everyone one all the best!

                          Thanks,
                          Shashi

                            Send ppt

                            Hi,

I got a mail to submit the revised I129 forms and my passport. I submitted it on 18th Nov and for the first time since 9th may, my status date got updated but the status is still being shown as Admin Processing.

The passport tracking system shows that the passport is still with the post. Dont know what this implies when I have already submitted the passport.

Anyone can guide whether the status update is positive sign ?

                            Regards.
