L1A - stamping 221g Pink Slip
Hi,
The requirenment for AAP can be triggered braodly due to 2 reasons:
1. Consulate Based - In this case the consulate/USCIS is not very sure about your case of a visa and may ask for submission of additional documents, may verify your work ex, education etc.
2. Washington Based - In this case agengies other than USCIS (Homeland Security etc.) may have some interest in you or someone who may have similar names etc.
Based on my experiece interacting with various people and having read verious posts on internet forums, the Washington based Additional Administrative processing (AAP) doesn't differentiate between type of Visa sought. If they haven't asked for any documents, it may probably be Name-Check or something of that sort and hence may not be expedited.
Having said that, it is observed that the AAP timelines for clearance is getting reduced and more-or-less stands at around 6-8 weeks at the moment. Look at my earlier posts in this to get an idea.
All the Best.
Regards,
snbtcca
