I am applying for L1B extension.

I know that I can stay in US after applying for extension though my I94 expires .
But
In case I get denial will my stay become illegal after my I94 expires ?

Even I have applied for extension , your legally valid to stay once you have applied for extension . You would get a receipt number which allows you to stay for 240 days until you hear from them(rfe,approval,rejection) ...keep us posted on your case ...
