L1-L2 COS...Do we need new I94 being in US

Need confirmation on the following situation, it will be great if someone can help.
Filed L2 and EAD in Nov 2012 and received approval notice I797 and EAD, however I still have the old I - 94 which is from the previous L1 visa. If I am not exiting the country can I stay in US in-spite of holding an I 94 that is not from my current Visa. Do I need to get a new I - 94 in this case.

If you received L2 approval ( I am assuming you would have done a L1 to L2 COS) then at the bottom of the approved I797 you would have got a new I-94 check your I797.
