Need urgent guidance on L2 please

Dear Friends,

I have a personal apprarence on 9-Apr for L1A Blanket. I have twin boys and their passort is expiring on 25-Feb-2014, is there a problem considering that the passport is valid for less than a year ? Please help. If they get the visa then I can go to US and apply for the renewed passport for them and extend the i-94 right ? Please help.
