My L1 B Blanket visa and my wife's L2 is expiring on 15th Nov 2013. My Wife being on L2 visa hold a valid EAD (which we applied for independently ) and is working locally in Boston. Her EAD is valid till Aug 2013. Since the renewal of her EAD is subject to our visa extension and with just 3 months of visa remaining, Her EAD renewal might face issues.
I can open L1/L2 visa renewal process with my employer 7 months before expire .i.e. now.
My employer suggests two options to renew my L1 visa.
1) L1 renewal with USCIS regular process.
2) L1 renewal at US consulate in Canada as that is a more stable process. but not earlier than 2 weeks before i-94 expiry. i.e. mid september
Now the problem is my wife's EAD is expiring in august.
I am confused if I should apply for wife's EAD renewal right now. (possible since less than 120 days remianing before EAD expiry) till End of Visa and do the renewal in Canada
OR
Do regular l1 renewal and then renew EAD.
We want to ensure uninterrupted employment with her current employer.
