  • Status of H1B and B1/B1 after getting laid off on L1B

    Hello friends,

I am on L1B visa since April 2011 and recently got approved for a COS to H1B effective from Oct 1, 2013. Also, I had visited US in 2008 on a multiple entry visa valid for 10 years. As is common these days , layoffs are going on and have a few questions in preparation to what might happen.

    1) If I get laid off, can I stay in US on B1/B2 and look for job ? Do I need to apply for a change of status from L1 to B1/B2 or the one that I already have will become effective automatically ?

    2) Will my H1B visa get revoked if I get laid off or can I use that for getting a job with other employer effective from Oct 1,2013 ?

Thank you for you help !
