L1 B Extension query

My friend's L1 B is going to expire next 15 days but his employed had filed an extension for him which got approved as well. He hold an approved L1 B petition but his I-94 is going to expire soon. Can he continue to stay in USA until the petition expiry ?

If his extension has been approved he should have got a new I-94 along with the approval notice.
