Hi,
First I would like to mention my sincere thanks to people in this forum.
I am working in a well known product company in USA. I was in US for past three years and when my company applied for L1-B extension with USCIS, we got denial notice due to lack of documents submitted by attorneys.
But my attorneys recommended us to try the extension in US consulate in Chennai. I got interviewed on July 1st and July 2nd. Finally got the extension approval and got the passport with new VISA stamped in it.
Here is my experience on July 2nd.
1) Reached consulate 45 mins before the visa interview time and still we were allowed to enter (Myself , my wife and kid)
2) Initial checking and document arrangements took nearly 30 mins.
3) After that we were asked to go the building where visa interviews are happening.
4) At 12.25 my token number was flashing in the monitor and we were asked to go to counter.
5) After reaching the counter we waited for 5 mins.
6) Following questions were asked :
a) I see three passports, what is the relationship between three people ?
b) You still have valid B1 Visa's in your old passport, I mentioned YES. I was loud and clear :-)
c) Visa officer immediately started asking question to my wife.
i) how long were you staying in USA
ii) Where were you staying
iii) Which part of California
iv) Do you like staying there
v) How long you were married
d) Then VO started asking questions to me, How long you are working for the company
e) Explain me your day to day activities
f) Is your company started immigrant visa (GC) process for you ?
g) Then VO asked my wife and kid to be seated as VO wants to stamp the visa papers. VO mentioned he had to stamp so many papers , it would take time. (Wov) . I was so happy when VO mentioned the above. But still VO asked the following questions.
h) Can I see your last year W-2 form ?
i) What is your highest Degree ?
Finally VO mentioned, Sir I am approving the Visa's and he handed over two copies of I-129S and stamped approval seal on both of them.
On July 5th we received all our passports.
Thanks to great people in the forum.
Thanks & Regs
