L1A visa stamping in India | New process change?

I had an L1A visa stamped in 2009, I traveled to US in 2012 and filed for extension. Approved petition Form I-129 and I-797A are available with me now. I wanted to visit India and also get visa stamp in my passport so I can travel back to US. Does the new process for visa renewal not require any interview at Chennai consulate?

Will the Visa stamp have expiration date of 2014 or will it be considered a new application from the time I go for interview? I mean will I get Visa stamp till 2015 since I am requesting for a stamp after one year I received the petition?
