What is I-797 form?

My L1B visa has expired last year and I-94 will be expiring this December.

I am going back to India before my I-94 expiry and will be applying L1B visa from India.

I am doing the documentation work now, like filling Ds-160, etc.

I was asked to give I-797 copy. What is this form? Do I have to fill it online?

All I have with me is a xerox copy of the form I-797, Notice of Action that I got 4 years back when I applied for my L1B for the first time.

Who is asking for it? If employer then they should already have the copy of it.

You can submit the xerox too as generally L1 Blanket doesnt have an expiry date.
