  • L1b visa holder and issue in SSN

    Hi

I am on L1b visa and have applied for SSN 6 weeks back. In the passport and I-94 my name is in the form of :
    Given Name: YYYY YYY
    Last Name:ZZZ
where as in the form to apply for SSN there was a field of middle name and hence I have written in the form of :
    First Name:ZZZ
    Middle Name:YYY
    Last Name:ZZZ
At the SSN office they said that they will have to check as in I-94 my given name has two names and SSN form has first name and middle name separate. They mentioned that I will receive SSN within 4 weeks but now it has been 6 weeks and still now I have not received it.

Can any one advise what should I do and has any one faced similar issues with middle name and given name.

    Please advise

    Thanks

    Ramesh

Expect delays my friend...My wife had exactly the same problem, and we struggled for several months to have her SSN issued. As a matter of fact, we got so tired of going to the SSN office to figure out what was wrong that we decided to start fresh by submitting another SSN application from another SSN office. She walked out the office with the a SSN number, and the card got mailed a few weeks later. Of course this was in 2007, and the mileage may vary from state to state...;-)

    Good luck!
