L2 vs b1/b2 visa info required urgently

I am Travelling for 6months with l1 visa and spouse wants to accompany for about 2 months.
Is it mandatory for her to travel with l2? Can I pursue her visa as tourist visa and save some money ?

How L2 is less costly then B1/B2?

Also, would like to know if my wife goes for a L2 interview separately
Is it required to carry original petetion documents of mine or
