L1B Extension

My company has filed L1B extension for me on 22nd Aug. USCIS received date is August 27 at Vermont center. Its been more than 3.5 months and still the status is "initial review" on their site. Is it a sign of RFE or approval? How long does it take usually for RFE or decision? Also, is there any possibility of L1B extension approval without RFE now a days? Does it happen with anyone?

Assuming either RFE or approval is not wise. Its been normal nowadays to expect a 4-6 Months time frame (if not filed as premium) even for receiving RFEs . As for L1B extension without RFE it is very rare nowadays, mainly because of the reasons that many L1Bs approved more than 3+ Years back were not scrutinized enough and were granted without much consideration. There seems to be an unwritten reversal in policy in terms of extra scrutiny around L1 visas over the last few years especially around extension requests.

My extension was Received on 6th September, still waiting on the decision. Planning to ugrage to premium by next week.

No, its still "Initial Review". what's ur status in the system? where it was filed? Vermont Center or California?

Received by USCIS on 6th of September. Filed in Vermont! I am upgrading to premium this week.
