  • Marriage Certificate from Grama Panchayat - accepted for L2 Visa?

Hi, I will be applying for L1 visa through my company in a month or 2. Along with it I will be applying for L2 for my wife and kid so that they can come along with me.

I know that marriage certificate is mandatory when we apply for L2. Let me tell my situation. My Marriage certificate is from Grama Panchayat in Kerala.

Problem1: My name is spelled as RENJITHKUMAR where as it should have been RANJITH KUMAR but I did not get this changed till date (7 yrs since married)
Problem2: This is hindu marriage certificate (Form III) issued by panchayat. It only has Kerala Stage seal. So is it required to get an attestation from a municipal or home department?

Kindly note: My passport and wife passport has current names (my passport has my wife name mentioned at the back and my wife s name in the passport is updated to have my name after her first name along with the surname: nair)

    Kindly help

    Thanks, Ranjith

Is it advisable to get the corrected marriage certificate from the local Municipal Corporation.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

      Thanks Raghvi

As I mentioned the marriage certificate is from Gram Panchayat so let me reach out to them to correct the spelling as you suggested.

But do I still need to get the marriage certificate attested by the home department or some other authority before applynig for the L1/L2? or the certificate is just enough?

I dont know about Grama Panchayat's certificate validity. If you are working in city and staying there its advisable to get the Marriage Certificate in English language from the local Municipal Corporation. Every large company has admin services for employees to assist in getting Marriage certificate.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
