can dependent travel later after obtaining L2 visa along with the L1 person?

In a month or so I will be applying for L1 and planning to go for L2 for my wife and son so that we can get it done together. However my wife and son may not travel with me to the US when I leave. They may come later - probably even after a year or so. Is this allowed? or is it mandatory for the dependents to enter US? or

Can my wife and spouse enter US along with me and then return back and then return to US after a year or so?

Its not mandatory for the dependents to travel along with you. They can travel post your travel as long as their visa is valid. With that said, they should also avoid travel into US while you are not already present in US.
