  • Extn Visa stamp on passport

    Hi,

I currently work in USA on L1 Visa. I entered USA on 3 years visa which expired in Nov 2013 and now I got L1 extension approval for 2 years (approved I797 form) Also my employer started the procedure for H-1B visa on my behalf.

I need some help with the following issues-
    1. I believe I have to go to India to get visa stamp on my passport. How long does it take? and what are the charges for the same?
    2. can I go to some other country for stamping?
    3. Or should I wait till H1-B approval and then go for the same?
    4. If USA consulate in India decided not to approve my visa in spite of having valid work permit, can I travel to USA for settling things such as house, car and other stuffs on some temp visa? and how many days will I have to wait to go back for work?

Thanks in advance for your help

Is it L1 Blanket or L1 Individual?

    1. The same time as it would take for initial L1, fill DS-160, book appointment date and attend visa stamping.
    2. Yes.
    3. I would suggest wait till you get H1 approval.
    4. On what visa are you going to enter US? A B1/B2 seems the most feasible possibility. If L1 gets rejected and H1 is approved, the earliest you can return to work in US would be 01-Oct-2014.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
