Blanket L1-B extension

Hi Team,

My L1-B Blanket visa and petition expiring on 5-March-2014. Since My Passport is also expiring on 6-March-2014 , I have applied for Passport renewal and about to be received in 3rd week of Jan-2014. Once I received my New passport I will apply for visa extension. Till now I haven't planned to stay in US, so I didn't planned for extension. But now I have changed my plans due to personal reasons.
My questions are

1) After applying for extension, generally in how many days I can get my receipt ?
2) Once I got my receipt , Can I travel to India? . I am planning to come back once my petition approved.
3)What are the risks in this?.
4) If my petition approved , do I need to go for stamping again ?

Could you please help me in this .

You should get the receipt within a week. How long have you already stayed in US on the L1B? When are you planning to travel and return? On what visa re you going to return?
