L1A to GC question

Hi,

I have a valid L1A petition till Sept 2014. I got my L1A approved while in the US in Sept 2012. Previously, I was in L1B. Total years of stay in US is 3 years 8 months.
Company is planning to file GC on L1A. Is it a requirement that a GC can be initiated only if the visa/I-94 date expiry remaining date is more than 1 year? Or can the company file GC anytime right now?
