L1 visa expiration date, EAD and I94

Hi,
I am on L1B visa with the following scenario:

L1 & L2 visa expiration date: 04-Dec-2014.
Wife's EAD expiration date: October 2014.
I 94 valid till: 17-Jan-2017

My employer is not planning on filing for L1 renewal since our I94 is valid till 2017.
Can we file for EAD renewal and if yes then till what time will the new EAD be valid till? - visa expiration date or I94 validity date?

It will typically be till I-94 date. But one should not stay beyond 5 Years of physical stay allowed on L1.
