L1B to H1B

Hi
I was in united states on L1B visa but had to travel to India for some reasons. Before I traveled back, I filed my L1B visa extension which is still in initial review and is pending with USCIS for approval. Can I apply for H1B through some other employer while my L1B extension case is already pending with USCIS? Please guide me on this as soon as possible.

What is the expiry date of L1B visa in your passport?

You can certainly apply for H1B, but if you are outside US on date of application, it cannot be processed as Change of Status. It will be processed as Consular Process which will require you to attend H1 interview in order to get H1.
