L1 Extension , Petty Offence Exception
I am working in US in L1 visa status from July 2012 , valid till 2015 and I have to apply for extension in Dec 2014 . But there was an unfortunate incident in Jan 2013 in which I was arrested with charges of petty theft in San Mateo California.
I was charged with PC488 and did not had any jail time but had to pay fine . As I am applying for L1 visa extension & extension Petition is filed by my company’s attorney.
Do I need to disclose this to my company ? or I can take petition and disclose this in DS160 while filling form for visa appointment or consult separate attorney after taking initial petition.
Could you give inputs on Petty Offence Exception ?
As I understand I qualify for this but what precautions should be taken while applying .
As I had CIMT offense ever, the offense carries a potential sentence of a year or less, and the “sentence imposed” was less than six months, the person is automatically not inadmissible under the
CIMT ground As you have information about case could you please give letter as Attorney's opinion
