  • Getting married after 1 year of L1?

    Hi guys,
First of all I want to thank all the people that maintain this forum. It’s super useful.

So I have been on L1 for about a year in the US. My girlfriend has been traveling back and forth during this time and I also traveled there a few times.
Now we decided we want her to move to the US and live together. The only option we found is to get married so she gets the L2 and then can apply to EAD.

Can we get married after one year on L1? Can we marry in the US or need to do it in my country?
If I apply to a GC later will this affect us?

    Thanks a lot!

    R.

On what visa is your Girl Friend coming into US.

It usually doesnt matter whether marrying in US or outside, but advisable that you marry in your own country, and ask spouse to attend L2 visa interview.

GC process will not be affected.

Marriage doesnt affect your L1 visa or future immigration, its after all a very common thing to do.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

Thanks Raghvi. She has a B1 visa and is the one she has been using to enter to US.
      Will GC cancel her L2?
