  • Regarding L1b/L2 stamping from canada/mexico

Can B2 visa holder go to Canada or Mexico from US along with primary applicant(myself for L1B visa) for fresh L visa stamping. ?

    In details-

I am working in US on basis of I94 which is valid till Aug 2015. My L1B visa expired in 2013. No extensions applied.
My wife and kid has B2 visa and they want to visit me in US anytime in 3 months time. I want to process fresh L1B visa from my company for myself and get the stamping done in Canada or Mexico(not base country).
My question is after my family come to US on B2 visa, Can all of us(myself, wife and kid) go together to Canada/Mexico for the visa stamping(L1 for me and L2 for my dependents) ?
My question revolves around is it possible to get L2 visa stamped from a country(Canada/Mexico) for a B2 holder ? The primary applicant for L1B will be travelling together though.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

    Hi there Rishi,

Your wife and kid should be fine to apply for their L-2 visas at the U.S. Consulate in Mexico/Canada. Once you have the necessary documents to go re-new your L-1B, complete a DS-160 application for you and for each your wife and child and then schedule a visa interview. They'll need to bring documents such as marriage certificate and birth certificate to the interview.

    Cheers,
    Jackie
