  • How to extend L2 visa?

My husband is on L1 visa which is valid till 30 Oct 2015. However my visa and my daughter's visa (L2) is expiring on 30 Oct 2014. I am currently in India (for a vacation) and will be returning in the month of Aug. My husband is in US.

I need to extend our visa. Can someone please let me know the procedure (along with list documents required for the extension). I am currently in Chennai.

    Thanks and Regards

Surprised that you and your daughter didnt get L2 visa to match your spouse L1's visa. Any particular reason for that?

No particular reason. last time when we returned back to US form India (after a short vacation), he got his stamping which is valid till 2015. However when they did stamping on ours it was just for an year. When we enquired, we were informed that it will not be a problem and we can apply for extension latter. Now that we have come to India, I though of extending our visa to match his.

Visa validity and I-94 are two different things, what you seem to be stating is that your spouse has a I-94 till 2015, but you have a visa only till 2014. Sometimes if the passport are expiring differently it happens so. Did you check the passport validity for you and your daughter?

I believe the visa stamp in your spouse's passport matches your visa stamp.

Is your spouse on L1 individual or L1 Blanket?

This is my opinion not legal advice.

My husband is in L1B (blanket visa). His visa is valid till 2016 and his I94 stamping is also till 2016.

Now do I have to take an appointment for visa interview or do I have to mail the documents and just get the extension?

Also please do mention the supporting documents required.

Earlier you said "My husband is on L1 visa which is valid till 30 Oct 2015". Now you are saying "His visa is valid till 2016 and his I94 stamping is also till 2016". Irrespective, you should be able to get L2 as per his visa date. L2 are eligible for drop box and interview waiver. Check out if you qualify http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-visarenew.asp
