L2 EAD process time for new/extension card
Hi,
I want to share the experience which I had with my L2 EAD Extension. This may help many people who is applying for new/extension card.
---For a new card, I have applied through attorney on Mar 23rd and without any query received the approval on May 3rd, Received the Physical card on May 14th. So the process has taken only 43 days. Documents should be proper in place.
---When applied for extension (Same attorney), It has taken almost 120 days. As the Application was in 'Initial Review' till 85th day and it turned to RFE on the same day. RFE letter was received after 14 days, just asking for a Passport Size Photograph.
While applying extension , I have given the same photo which I gave for a new card 2 years back, seems like the size of focus is changed recently.
So here are some info you should follow while applying the new/extension L2 EAD.
1. Have the documents ready in place. If it is an extension, please file it before 120 days (Allowed timeline in USCIS)
2. For Photo, Please refer the link http://travel.state.gov/content/pass...-examples.html
3. You need to wait till 70 days to call the USCIS customer service, even though it is in 'Initial Review from Day 1 - Day 74'. You can escalate on 75th day saying your application is showing the same status from Day 1. You will receive the response from USCIS in email within 7-10 days (About your query, not a EAD)
4. If suppose, your application went to RFE by chance, Please wait for mail until 14 days. USCIS will consider your ask only on 15th day of your RFE. You/Attorney can request for an email on this if you did not receive a mail in postal.
5. Expedite request can be filed now as you have crossed your 90 days time.
6. Process will be fast now and you will receive a card/decision within 15-20 days of your RFE response.
Everything before, please file on time.
