US Greencard Apllication Conflict with L1 Visa

I am a dual Canadian/Iranian citizen. I work in a Canadian company and I am going to transfer to US via L1 Visa in 3 years.
Since I have a PhD and high number of academic citations, I am eligible to apply for US green card via NIW category. Here are my concerns:
1. If I can obtain my green card in less than 3 years, do I still need an L1 visa to transfer to US? in other words, do the US green card holders need an L1 visa to work for a non-American company?
2.If the answer to the above question is yes, does having a green card from NIW category have any effect on my L1 visa application?
3. If my US green card application is rejected, does it affect my L1 application?
4. Can I apply for L1 while my US green card application via NIW is in process?
