  • L1B Visa Renewal Interview Location

    Hello,

My current L1-B visa is expiring in Aug 2015 and I wanted to check whether it's recommended to go to India (my home country) for the visa renewal interview? If yes, would love to know the benefits of appearing for the interview in India vs. Canada/UK.

Also, if I go for the visa interview in Jul 2015, then is it true that I cannot come back to the US on my existing L1B visa (expiring Aug 2015) if my visa renewal request is rejected? I am thinking that in case it gets rejected, I can come back to the US on my existing visa before Aug 2015, and take a week to pack up everything (finish bank formalities, sell furniture etc.) before leaving US in Aug 2015. Is that possible?

    Thanks!

Truly there is not much advantage of attending it in India except the fact that if you are rejected you dont have to travel, have freinds and family, the disadvantage of attending anywhere else is that if for some reason the visa is rejected you most probably would have to return from that country (Canada/UK or anywhere else) back to your home country .

It depends upon the officer, if they cancel your exisiting visa too, or if they put your case into admin processing and keep your passport.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
