COS H1B to L2 - I94 issue

Hi

My wife was on H1B from 1st Oct'13 to 30 Sep'14. On 1st Sep'14 I processed her COS to L2 (my L1 visa expired in 2012, i94 valid till 5/13/15). Today I got the letter from USCIS that my wife's COS was approved and her i94 extended till 5/13/15. But the start date for her L2 shows as 11/4/14, which means that her stay from 10/1/14 to 11/4/14 becomes invalid? Please advise if my understanding is correct and if yes then what can be done to correct this.

As long as the petition for change of status was filed before the expiration of I-94, she would be legal status and nothing to worry about.
