L2 visa approval on hold - 9B1

Hello,


We appeared for visa stamping. My L1 was approved however my wife was issued a 221g with the reason as 9B1(ineligibility-illegal residence), and was told it may be due to an error in updation of the records. My wife has not over stayed anytime.

Has anyone encountered this situation and any possible solution for this?

I was told to follow up with the DHS.
