  • Extension of stay on blanket L1

    Hi All,

I am working in the US on a blanket L1 visa. When the visa was issued 3 years ago my employer filled the I-129S form until May 2015 (3 years from the time the form was filled). The visa was then issued until June 2017 (5 years from the time of my visa interview). I have been living and working in the US since. When returning from vacation, the CBP officer only approved my stay until May, even though the visa is valid for longer, because of the I-129S dating.

After my employer prepares a new I-129S, do I have any procedure to extend my stay while in the US without traveling home and renewing the visa at the consulate? If so, does it have better or worth chances of being approved than going back to the consulate? The USCIS website says nothing about I-539 on L1 status.

    Thanks in Advance.
