L1 to H1B with out changing the status

Hi,
I am currently holding L1B visa for company A which is valid for next 2 years , can I apply for H1B visa from same company and keep that as backup plan ( don't change the status for next 2 year ) and once L1 visa expiry comes close can I apply for change of status to H1B ? Is this possible and if yes , what are the steps for the same.

Yes it is possible. First step is to ask the employer if they are willing to file a H1 petition for you.
