L1 laid off. Can I switch to F1 and continue getting paid?

Hello!

I am currently on a L1 visa and my company laid me off today. However, the company has decided to respect my contract and pay me for the next six months. I am currently doing my part time masters as well. So, if I switch to F1 visa right now, am I eligible to get paid by my company for six months?
