i94 required for l2-ead?

I just got my l2 visa. can I apply for EAD before entering US or can I do that only after entering US and getting my i-94? (i have never entered US before)

You can apply for EAD only after you have received an I-94. Also, after entering you should wait for 2-3 weeks before going to SSA office for getting your SSN. Once you have the SSN in hand, you should apply for EAD.

Thanks Shaan. I felt the same way., but would like to know if anybody has applied for L2-EAD before entering US (for the first time)?
