  • Waiting For L1B Extension Decision

    Hi Members,

The decision over my L1B Extension is under consideration by USCIS.
My I-94 expired on 1-Jan-2015 and L1B extension was filed prior to that under normal processing.
    Received RFE on 2-Jan-2015.
    RFE Submitted on 4-March-2015
Current status on USCIS tracker is showing "You should receive a decision or case update by May 3, 2015".

    I have following queries:-
    1. What if leave US before getting USCIS decision (I mean abandoning the case), would it impact my future visa.
    2. What are the chance that i will get decision by the mentioned date by USCIS. or i can hear from them before mentioned time as well

Personal experience or any further clarification will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

    1. Future visas would mostly be decided on their merits, the current L1 extension abandonment should not impact them. Also, an abandonment or denial of L1 extension makes you out of status and illegal from your I-94 expiry date, so in all future visa application, you would have to mention this overstay period.
    2. Pretty high, 3-5 Months is the general norm. Yes, you can get a decision before that too.

This is my opinion not legal advice.
