  • Visa Expiration V/s PED data on Blanket L1B

    Hi,

I have 2 dates mentioned on my blanket L1B visa stamp.
First one is Visa expiration date which mentions Oct 2015 and second is PED which says Sept 2016.

I was issued blanket L1B visa for first time in 2014 for only 2 years (instead of 3 years)
My I-94 is valid till 2017

    My questions are:
    1) What is difference in PED and Visa Expiration date?
    2) Is it common to get first L1B visa stamp for 2 years only? (on a fresh passport)
    3) What I have to do after Oct 2015 when I travel out of USA? Do I have to go for visa stamping only or file L1B extension now?

Can anybody please reply to the above query?

      1. Generally Blanket Petitions are valid indefinitely, and individual petitions have a specific end date. Sometimes, the Blanket petition itself may be having a end date, after which the Organization itself loses the Blankets status unless they file for it again and get it. Visa is more specific to you and the position for which you are going for visa end date would mostly depend upon the dates requested for in I129.
      2. Not common but not extremely rate either.
      3. You would have to get a new L1 Visa by going for a fresh visa stamping interview.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

        Thanks for the reply.

On point 3, does it come as a normal re-stamping or is it actually Visa extension which starts 6 months before?
