Travel to 3rd country while keeping US L1A visa

This is about a situation where someone is on L1A visa in the US and has a short term assignment in another country - Germany.

Can the person obtain temp work visa for Germany, go there while countinuing as an employee in the US, complete the assignent & come back to US?

That's a tricky situation, I doubt that could work in your favor at the time of an extension..
Better to consult your company attorney

Yes, you can visit another country for work purpose from US while on L1A and then again get back to US.
