  • Passports with NO Surname get Rejected for US L1?

I have been told that, in recent developments from US embassy, Visa's would be rejected if there is no surname in the passport. It is mandatory to split the Full Given name into Given name and surname. Please suggest if it is mandatory to get this exercise done from the passport office even if you would like to keep it as it is....

If it has to be done, whether it should be done before the visa interview or before the petition is filled?
