  • Suggestion on L1 A/L1 B visa

    Hi,

I have 10 years exp and am leading team in offshore. My company is initiating L1 visa for me.
I have 5 reportees in offshore, but do not have any reportees in US as of now.
Can anyone suggest me which visa to go for (L1A /L1B). Quick help on this is appreciated.

    Thanks

With only 5 Reporting to you, it sounds more of a tech lead role not a Manager/Executive role , I would not suggest to go for L1A.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

Thanks Raghvi for the advise. Will it not be an issue if 10yrs exp. goes for L1B as specialised/Domain knowledge expert.
Just wondering about it as I am not quite familiar with the experience req for L1A/L1B visa types.

There is no hard and fast rule with respect to the number of years experience required in order to qualify for L1B. If you and your employer feel that you indeed possess specialized skill sets unique to you in your organization and are proprietary to the company, yes you can give it a try.

              L1 query

              I also have similar query..

Currently I have L1B Blanket valid visa currently working in USA and it expires next year in 2016 Feb . I have option for L1B Blanket extension or L1A blanket . But since I just now got promoted as manager my company is skeptical for filling L1A blanket and rather suggest me to go for L1B Blanket from Canada.

At the same time my company is ok to file my green card simultaneously so please let me know what if your best opinion so that I can retain myself in USA after 2016 Feb.

              Thanks
              PG
